I got a Bachelor's Degree in Music and then changed my mind and got another degree so I could work in a medical laboratory. A few years went by and I started working as a brewer in a small microbrewery. I didn't drink coffee (back then), and I work early in the morning brewing beer before I go to the lab in the afternoon. I found Bluegrass on XM radio, and it worked better than coffee! After only a few mornings of hearing some high-powered banjo licks, I looked up at the heavens and thought, "I wanna do that!" My wife bought my Epiphone for my birthday in 2008, and I started trying to learn how to play it. I was a wind/piano/voice musician who had never played stringed instruments, and it was quite a surprise to find out how hard learning the banjo could be. I practice every day and I listen to bluegrass all day long. My OME Sweetgrass makes me sound really good, until I miss a few notes! A nice banjo will make you want to play more and more.
