I came to the 5-string banjo a few years ago when I started going to English / Irish pub trad sessions. Tenor banjo might have been a more logical choice but I liked the sound of the 5. Having never played bluegrass or clawhammer, I've attempted to come up with a way of playing local trad music on the banjo. I play mostly pub sessions but also play for barn dances and for the local Morris side.
