I started with accordion when I was really young, and then played viola in an orchestra from Jr. High through High School. The folk movement was in full bloom in ? and I learned how to play guitar with the help of a friend, and then after I heard someone play the Kingston Trio's version of "Darlin' Corey" I realized that I could learn how to do that too, so I got a banjo and set out learning how -- using Pete Seeger of course. since then, I've always played Guitar and Banjo -- learned 'em both together, and a good deal of cross-polinization. Banjo: mostly claw-hammer/frailing and what-have-you, no blue-grass; Guitar: finger-picking (I find myself frailing sometimes), very little flatpick. I'm better on the guitar than the banjo, but that don't stop me from flailing away. Would like to learn fiddle, mandolin, and dobro before crossing the Jordan.
