I AM THE PROUD NEW OWNER.....

Thursday, December 27, 2007

At 1:34 Est  and after days of waiting the ups man brought me my new banjo....with wild eyed excitement i tore open the big brown box and said hello to my new friend....it was i glorious sight gazeing on your very first banjo for the first time......she was perfect all polished and clean not scratch on her........I went through all of the packaging and found a clip on tuner, these metal thingys.....a strap and what i would call a gig bag......they also included a mel bay banjo book and dvd.....years ago when i was learning how to play bass i used mel bay and found them pretty good.....I tuned her right up and got to work on my first lesson....I can pick out a tune ok but after years of playing bass my brain is not wired to plant my pinky finger.....it will take some practice but I feel confident that I will master the forward roll........I am sure in a few weeks i will laugh at my self for struggeling on such a basic skill...then again when i was learning how to play bass it took some time to get my pointer and middle fingers to pound out a beat.....as for those metal thingys they are going to take some getting use to....... 4 comments

My first Banjo is a Mastercraft Bluegrass Mahogany Banjo. I purchased it from www.banjohut.com for a mere $279 it had alot of features found only on more expensive models. So after reading the reivews found on this web site I bought it. With a lifetime warrenty it should be a sound instrument to learn on. A local store had a beginner banjo made out of plastic......not even firewood.....

I play Bass and Guitar for about 20 years and am looking to learn how to play the banjo. I love southern rock, blues and classic rock and that has been my greatest source of influence as a muscian. Lately I guess you can call it a strong pull or a calling to Bluegrass has made me turn my attenttion to learning how to play.
