Growing up in Northern Virginia, outside of Washington, DC, there was lots of BG available, but I really had an epiphany when I heard the “World of Flatt and Scruggs”. After that, at 14, I bought a banjo, had about 6 months of lessons, and haven’t put it down in over 25 years. After college, and a short stint in Austin, TX as an original member of the Grassy Knoll Boys, I moved back to the DC area and played with the Satyr Hill Band for 14 years, with stints in several other bands during that time. I left the band in Sept of 2005 as family (happily married and proud daddy of 3 little ones), work (as national account manager of major outsourcing company), and life took precedent. So for now, I am enjoying the banjo again, at my own pace, when I can find the time.
