I play clawhammer and like to collect and do minor repairs to banjos for fun. I am very partial to the early Fairbanks banjos. I am trying to assemble a collection that includes every shape/style of banjo made (Picollo, Pony, Ladies, Fretless, Minstrel, Banjorine, Cello, Bass, Guitar-Banjo, Mandolin-Banjo, Melody Banjo, Tenor Banjo, Pectrum, etc.) I am buying reasonably prices examples as they become available - and consider it to be a living and breathing collection and will trade up as nicer ones become available. Unfortunately I became fond of the banjo about 20 years too late - and the prices have risen to were I may never be able to get the really unique and desirable models. My wife (Deb) plays guitar and sings Old Time very well.....and she is tolerant of my banjo obsession. She currently is playing/singing in a band called Calamity Rain with Amy Clay, and also in a band named the O.K. Ramblers with Dave Edmonson (Hot Mud Family) and Whit Meade (Rhythm Rats and Companies Comin).
