I've been playing the guitar for about 30 years (you'd think I would have gotten better), last year I started playing the Uke (to keep my son from smashing into my Martin). I had been eye-balling the banjo for years... trying to figure out if it would actually be as much fun to play as it looked. Finally decided to give it a shot.
