True Story: Went hunting for Bear in Canada in the fall of 2003. Met two guys who were at the same camp as me and all my buddys. The two guys who became good friends of mine were Steve Roach and Danny Walker from Chatham Virginia. I sat mezmorized watching Steve pick that 5 string. He was just fantastic!! ( Still is ). Now up to this point, I had not been listening to Bluegrass music and barely new it even existed. My dad played a couple of old tapes when i was a kid but that was about the extent of me and Bluegrass. Somehow that evening, listening to him " drive that banjo" I had been ' biten by the bug '. The week of Bear camp ended and home we all went. When I got home from that trip and told the wife that I want to learn to play the banjo. She laughed. :) and said whaaaattt??? It was pretty funny because I had been away for a week on a Bear Hunt and now all I could say was " i want to buy a banjo "...lol. So after a few months of debate... on whether i really wanted to do this or not... I bought a banjo and received it on January 15th of 2004. I practise on average of 3.5 hrs a day. Lots more then that when I can. My wife and I travel around to bluegrass functions as much as possible and have lots of new friends who are just wonderful people! Thank you Steve and Danny for turning my head and heart to this music. PS.. I did get a Bear on that trip too!!!
