I am a 5-string banjo player and arranger, playing the traditional banjo clawhammer style, which provides a strong rhythm, harmony and melody. In other words the style lends itself to music where most people in groups can sing along and dance. Once you know the basic clawhammer rhythm, you can generally sing while playing, making the instrument almost as versatile as a guitar. Curiously, I have not found much evidence of 'Jewhammer', so I'm starting a new project to arrange traditional Jewish songs for the style and instrument.
