Owned a banjo since 1977 but hardly played it. 2 years ago I found an old banjo with a poor setup at a guitar show for $40, did some research and put a calf skin head on it with Nylgut strings and it changed my life. I became much more interested in the old time natural sound rather than bluegrass. I felt like I was home.
