Mostly self taught 4-finger picker who plays almost exclusively in the Dorian mode (a.k.a. mountain modal or sawmill). And not very fast. I play a Deering Vega Little Wonder openback that I put a Remo Renaissance head on, and a Moon bridge. I like G modal tuning so much I put my Seagull 6-string guitar into that tuning too, exchanging the regular 5th string for a high string tuned to, um, whatever the 5th string on a banjo is tuned to (you have to use a much lighter string).
