Following some links, I looked at a Murphy Henry clawhammer video. Noticed the image of her left hand broke up as the she moved on the fingerboard. I have had the same effect in my (limited) experience with recording video with a Canon mini-cam. The break-up effect went away when I turned OFF the image stabilization feature. Image stabilization is good for distant shots. But when it is used on closeup shots where key features of the image move rapidly, the system seems to get confused and the image breaks up. If you are taking videos close up of something active like picking or fretting hands and the image breaks up, try turning off image stabilization.
