Playing Since: 2005
Experience Level: Novice
Interests:
[Jamming] [Socializing]
Occupation: College Student
Gender: Male
Age: 38
My Instruments:
Well, my weapon of choice is a 1985 Gibson RB-250 with a black head on it. It is a little different looking, but it will shake the house when you rack it.
Favorite Bands/Musicians:
After being a member of the banjo picking community here on the Hangout for quite a while, and quickly approaching the 3 year mark on my banjo journey's total elapsed time, I fell very confident to say that Jim Mills is my favorite banjo player. It is very hard to pick between the greats, but here is my current list of favorite banjo players excluding Earl...(In Order)1-Jim Mills 2-Sammy Shelor 3-Terry Baucom 4-JD Crowe 5-Ron Stewart.
As for choosing my favorite band, it has to be Sammy Shelor's Lonesom River Band. Bands other than that include The Dan Tyminski Band, Blue Highway, The Mashville Brigade, Kentucky Thunder, and The Steeldrivers. There are alot of other great bands but those are the most notable in my opinion.

Well I am almost a Physical Education teacher from Cherry Log, Georgia. I will graduate in May 2009 from Mars Hill College (near Asheville, NC) so if you happen to be reading this and know someone wanting a PE teacher, let me know. I am hoping to attend graduate school in the fall to get my master's degree in Exercise Physiology. Other than that i love to play the banjo and have a great time. I have a great "band"/group of friends that I play with on occasion and I really enjoy it. I have been playing for 3 years now and I have enjoyed every minute of it.
