Started playing bluegrass banjo on a 4 string Vega my dad got from a friend at work. Years later I landed a 5 string, I just picked it up and off I went, That led to Dobro and in 1972 I moved on to pedal steel. I came back to Portland Or after the Navy and landed a weekend gig, that road has basically been 40 weekends a year for the last 43 years. I use the banjo and fiddle on special songs that require them, folks always love the banjo.
