Played drums in an 80s metal band, "Wedge", in the mid-80s. Hung it up until mid 2000s, when some work friends put together a classic rock band to play one of their wedding reception, and played together for a couple of years. Played 80s metal guitar throughout the years, but only drums in a band. Saw "Sleepy Man Banjo Boys" in Decatur, IL in August of 2014. I always wanted to play the banjo, but this sealed the deal. Bought an Ibanez B200 the next day and started taking lessons about a month later. Since then, I've acquired a Gretsch open back (when I was trying out clawhammer style), a 1994 Gibson RB Deluxe, and just last Christmas a 2005 Stelling Crusader. Although I consider myself somewhere between beginner and intermediate, I love every minute I have a banjo in my fingers.
