I inherited a 21 inch tenor banjo. Given that I play guitar and had enough trouble becoming proficient at that, I wanted to string my banjo so that it can be tuned like the four middle strings of a guitar (adgb from Top to bottom). Which strings would be best for this? I know that martin m600 uke strings support Canadian tuning (adf#b where the a is high). These strings then would allow for middle 4 guitar string fingering I believe. What if I wanted the A string tone lower like the fifth string of a guitar, however? Is there a string set that would be good for this? Thank you.
