Learned from Pete Seeger's book when I was about 17 (1963). Nobody to listen to or watch, so I picked up some weird clawhammer style. Got halfway decent for not having anybody or anything to model myself after. Learned stuff by trying to copy from the few recordings I had where I identified clawhammer - Peter Stampfel comes to mind (believe it or not), Grandpa Jones, Stringbean. Quit playing at about age 24 - too busy. Am now 68 and I want to relearn at least what I could do back then. I am working at it. Internet resources are wonderful. I think I have a chance to be as good as I used to be but without the bad habits. It is nice to have goals, right?
