Occupation: Chief cook and bottle washer...

My Instruments:
Stringed instruments tuned in 4ths and 5ths. Mando, Tenor Banjo, 5-string Banjo, Ukulele, Electric and Upright Bass, guitar. I gig mostly on electric bass.

I'm not in like with fancy trimmings, fancy inlay, engraving etc... I like a banjo with side dots at 7 and 12 only and a blank fretboard (a holdover from my classical guitar infused youth). I like a banjo that is broken in and a bit worn like an old Indian head nickel. In fact I prefer nickel over chrome. I like very playable beaters.

What do I play? A 70s MIJ tenor and a really nice , finely crafted one off 5-string reso in the style of a mastertone. Which was hand crafted by a fellow named Bromfield, now long passed. He used to make beautiful Hawkins muzzleloaders from scratch and banjos on the side. He was quite a craftsman, and a really good neighbor with a a golf nut for a wife.

I also play a very nice PRC Alvarez that was an emergency backup for an old friend who was quite the banjoist. It was beautifully set up and it went for a very fair price considering the upgrades he put into it.

Arthritis and a broken wrist have forced adjustments to my approach to instruments, and serious instrument repair is beyond my altered dexterity.

Favorite Bands/Musicians:
I have big ears and listen to a lot of different genres, world, field, trad, old timey, territory bands...

Electrical engineer by trade. Professional Mariner. I can cook pretty good and I know my way around a tool box. Fix stuff. Carpentry, brickwork etc.. I used to turn wrenches but automotive technology has passed me by. Music wise I've been playing a variety of instruments for 50 years. Semi-professional but as time passes...I have become more of an enthusiast who gigs. I used to play out at least once a week. I preferred performing Fests and Special Events rather than restaurants or clubs. Dinner theater pit work is also fun every once in a while. Banjo-wise... I dabble at the Tenor in C. Alongwith a 5-string. I have restored a number of violins and a few guitars, over the years, along with a few banjos. It was at the jouneyman level and a couple of master craftsmen helped me along and tutored me through a few delicate projects. I usually did electrical work for them in return.
