I suppose I get the opportunity to echo many of the greats.."I was given my first banjo at Christmas". Although, I feel my story is a bit unique. My dad made (well, frankensteined) my first banjo for me from parts he gathered. It was a very special Christmas, because it followed the plot of one of my favorite films, A Christmas Story... you know, christmas was nearly over, we all "didn't see" a package in the corner and then there was this big production of me receiving the banjo. I tried to learn bluegrass tunes and go at it Scruggs style, but I felt I was making an empty sound with just tying some rolls together. I put down the "bluegrass" banjo for 10 months, and after some enlightenment, I picked it back up going Clawhammer. I fell in love. So, here I am. I play a banjo I found at an antique mall (1920s Supertone Ragtime King), and I can't put it down. I'm 31, I study wildlife and play the banjo.
