When I was a little girl in the 1970s, there was an amazing banjo player named Wendy Holcombe. I loved watching her play on shows like Hee Haw and Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner's shows. She used to do duets with Buck Trent occasionally, and she just blew me away with her amazing playing. As I grew up and moved into working as an actress in musical theatre and TV, I lost track of her. Started thinking about her a couple of years ago and found out that she had died really young of a heart problem. I was really sad to read this because she sure did inspire me as a kid... was great to see a blond girl like me really smokin on the banjo. Will always be so grateful that I had people like Barbara Mandrell, Roni Stoneman and Wendy Holcombe on TV when I was little.
