Like a lot of men my age, I began with the guitar back in the 60's. I attended years and years of jams of nothing but guys playing guitar. Then I heard a Smithsonian recording of Thaddeus C. Willingham singing "Oh My Little Darling." I was amazed at how he played the "B" part! Eventually, I learned about clawhammer style, but it took many months and some real frustration before I "got it." And maybe with constant practice and pilgrimages to Elkins, WV and Ashokan Southern Week, I'll be able to feel like a banjo player. In the mean time, I've been playing banjo with my friends in our band, Breakneck Annie.
