A couple years ago, I briefly met a fellow banjo player while on a camp, bike, hike trip. He played clawhammer and teaches a variety of old time music classes at Eastern Kentucky Univ. We exchanged email addys and finally after two years we were able to get togoether for a fun evening of playing and clawhammer lessons. Thanks Roger Dalton so much. I am finally on my way with clawhammer including drop thumb....so much fun. He also taught me the basics of playing the saw and nose harp of all things! I am looking forward to a trip out to Kentucky some day to play together again.

I am interested in both 3 finger and clawhammer. I started with 3 finger and learned a lot here on BH and from Glenn 555's Pickers Academy. Met BH member Roger Dalton who taught me the basics of clawhammer including drop thumb and I am loving it! Gottta put up a couple tunes sometime. Retirement has given me the time to make some nice progress on the music and fitmess. My college age son is a fine guitar player and loves to play the banjo tunes with me. I wish I could convince my wife to take up the bass and play with us. Too bad there isn't a way to practice banjo while cycling. I spend 2 to 6 hours on any day cycling, that would make for a lot of hours of banjo practice too. I love road cycling, mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, downhill and XC skiing, flat and whitewater canoeing and just about anything else human powered in the outdoors. I know, downhill skiing isn't human powered but still.......
