New Tuning: aDACD

Saturday, March 31, 2007

I just stumbled on this really cool new tuning, aDACD. Start with sawmill tuning, gDGCD, tune up the fifth and the third string to A, and there you go!  It is similar in sound to how I play Ingrian Polka/Kuppari Eeva, which you can hear on this homepage.

So far, I am working out Leadbelly's When I Was a Cowboy in this tuning on my H. C. Nelson fretless.

Born on a mountain top in Tennessee, kilt his first bar when he was only 3. Then one day, he was shooting for some food, and up from the ground came a bubblin' crude! No, seriously, I grew up in the highlands...of Southern California.
