It's been a long time since I've posted on the Hangout until just recently when I just had to thank Tim Davis by showing him a video of his Tom Adams Model in action. I had only been playing it a day or two. Thanks again Tim. This video I've already posted is a project with Peter Fand at the helm. When not playing bass and other duties with the Las Vegas Cirque d' Soleil, Zarkan show he is writing, singing and producing music with Tin Toy Cars. Check it out.
My full time band is Out of the Desert. Bluegrass isn't real high in demand here in Las Vegas but we have been very fortunate to get the opportunity to feature at some great venues. Through a venue called The Downtown Crown at Charleston and Main in old town Las Vegas we have been seen and warmly welcomed by people who were not looking for Bluegrass Music at all. The had just come for the popular brunch which for the last five years has been called "The Bluegrass Hangover Brunch". Bottomless mimosas and bloody marys . Who wouldn't like that? Then we get to playing and peoples heads turn. What's that? That's pretty cool.
Through 5 years of doing this we have made many new fans, friends and contacts. There is also The Southern Nevada Bluegrass Music Association which is enjoying a productive time with more people joining, jams, concerts and The Logandale Bluegrass Festival.
So if you are coming to Las Vegas or already live here there is no need to go with out your minimum daily amount of Bluegrass. Check us out every Sunday, 1-4 pm at The Downtown Crown in Las Vegas.
That's what I've been doing.
Here is a video of Out of the Desert at The Mandalay Bay, House of Blues in Las Vegas.
The sound quality is rough as the soundman was not aware we were an all acoustic band. He was expecting a punk band with needs of multi bazillion meg a hooies of power. All the equipment on the stage is not ours. So....he was a little unprepared for us.

Born and raised in the back hills of old Manhattan Beach, California. Basically....Los Angeles. After high school, traveled around the USA picking up my banjo education. Landed in Seattle and played in two well know bands. The Dynamic Logs and The Skyline Drifters. (not the European Skyline Drifters. I'm not a drummer) Stayed there about 26 years. Now live in Boulder City, Nevada (just outside Las Vegas at the Hoover Dam)
