I grew up playing electric guitar, but put the instrument down when I went to college. I didn't start playing music again until after law school, when I heard a recording of Mississippi John Hurt. Moved by his playing, I bought an acoustic guitar and threw myself back into music. From there, I fell down a deep hole of early country blues music, which led me to the other recorded American music of the 1920 and 30s. I found the banjo there and have been obsessed with the instrument in all its forms since.
