Albeit born to a family of professional musicians, it wasn't until I turned 13-14 that I started getting the 'itch' to play the drums, and this kickstarted a journey of musical exploration that I am still on. The drums led to vocal experimentation, which made apparent the necessity to take up a melodic instrument for the purpose of strumming along, which naturally led me to purchase my first guitar. Funnily enough, I've been wanting a banjo ever since the second year of playing the guitar, but kept putting it off until... my late 20's for a lack of budget, accessibility to this type of instrument in my home country and.. frankly, life got in the way. Far from being a professional musician, I make my living out of teaching English, but have been a member of several amateur bands that used to play the occasional gig in Athens, Greece. The drums were and the banjo is the only instrument(s) for which I have received professional instruction, whereas my vocal skills and any 'grasp' of the guitar, are a product of trial and error and some tips from the more competent musicians around me. Ever since I took up the banjo, I have made a point of dedicating the entirety of the little music-allocated time that I am left to becoming a banjoist. It is by far the greater isntrument I have ever played and have fallen head over heels in love with it! 2026 update: I am one of the founding members and lead singers of an Athens-based Prog band called 'Rival Sun'.
