I'm a lover of bluegrass, newgrass and progressive folk. I've also been involved in classical music for - well, decades.
I have, since I was graduated with a degree in journalism, made my living as a journalist and have worked in both newspapers and consumer magazines. Was for a long time at Cycle World magazine, was for a long time at Four Wheeler magazine, then the Los Angeles Times community news division, and was for a while editor of Open Road, Toyota's corporate blog. These days I'm very happily retired.
I like Scruggs pickin', but I wish I was better at it. I like clawhammer, but I wish I was better at it. I also play a little mandolin and a little guitar but I wish I was better at them both. Lack of skill doesn't keep me from fun, enjoyment and satisfaction, and that's what's important. At least to me.
