I need some advice. I have a really old banjo that has an ebony fingerboard that is concave lengthwise. That is, the edges of the fingerboard are now higher than the middle of the fingerboard. The middle has sagged as if the slot the truss rod resides has imploded and pulled the middle of the fingerboard down. It isn't much, but it is noticeable. I think the obvious way to fix it is to sand the fingerboard flat again. My concern is that the inlays which extend pretty close to the edge of the fingerboard will wear through. How thick are inlays? Is this the standard way to address this problem
Thanks. Dirk
