I have always listened to banjo music and was just fine enjoying that alone. Then an old school teacher started pushing me to get back into playing & I ended up with an old garage sale special. Since then I have spent 5 winters in training with a local banjo teacher by the name of Vincent Sadovsky who brought me a long way down the road to where I enjoy Playing as much as listening. Unfortunately my wife doesn't enjoy it as much as I do and has asked me to vacate the home when I play so I took on the task of constructing my own 5-sting electric guitar with a little help from a guitar builder friend of mine. Its very quiet to play untill I plug it in so now all is well in the home and Life is good.
