My name is Billy Failing and I'm a working musician from Portland, Oregon. As a lover of all kinds of music, I am inspired and influenced by traditional and modern banjo styles as well as everything in between. I am a graduate of the Berklee College of Music, where I had opportunity and privilege of studying three-finger style banjo with several masters of the craft. Some teachers I've had the opportunity to study with are Wes Corbett, Noam Pikelny, Bill Keith, Tony Trischka and Alan Munde, to name a few. My playing is a combination of traditional Scruggs, melodic and single-string styles, drawing influence from old-time, bluegrass, country and jazz among others. In addition to playing the banjo, I also write songs, play guitar and sing. I am currently living in Nashville, TN seeking work as a performer and teacher.
