More About Me

I do not have a typical 'storefront' but I do only specialize in banjo technical problems, 'optimization' setups, modifications, major finish/structural repairs. and parts/supplies.
There are no standard shop rates. I usually spend considerably more time with a banjo than most of my patrons realize - why? ..... 3 reasons. First, as retired I'm not beholden to a clock. Second, I don't pay rent to a landlord. Third and last, my career focused on design, engineering, and fabrication - principally wood products. Now my satisfaction derives from applying my knowledge to achieving best possible acoustical sound attributes that, in doing so, exceeds by far, the patron's expectations of tone and playability.
The traditional definition of 'luthier' characterizes that person as one who builds many types of stringed instruments. I don't therefore I refer to myself as specifically a 'banjo technician'.
There are very few banjo techs in Western Canada but often my contact information is passed along to the customers of other retail shops.
If you're curious about how to fix, update, or repair your xxxxx banjo, then the Hangout private email notification method is effective enough for us to start a conversation. I also have no standard working shop hours so most of the time I can accommodate your schedule - often, evenings and weekends included.
To the present, patrons who have purchased banjos and parts (including strings/picks/heads/etc.), or who have brought banjos to the BanjoTone shop, covers an area from Vancouver to mid-Saskatchewan.
