Proud new owner

From fiddlewood on 6/15/2012 9:00:38 AM

Hi all,

Well, I just sent the funds to Ron Stuart for the Yates RS Archtop he had for sale on his site, so thought I'd join the Group.

I've played in bands with a couple really great pre-war archtops and liked them, but I've never owned one so thought I'd spring for this one. I am so looking forward to pickin' this new machine! this will be the first Yates I've actually played (although I have played across form several and was impressed by the sound of each).

Well, guess I'll go sit on the porch & wait for the delivery (won't show up for several days yet), guess I'd better bring a cup of coffee.....hehe

Congrats! We'll be anxious to hear your opinion. I have a mahogany RS and it just keeps sounding better all the time!

I played an archtop at Morgan Music this weekend. I think you will be very happy. I played several in the store that day, and the Yates really had it.

Arrived this morning not only in excellent condition but still in tune right out of the case!

I love this instrument already after about an hour of playing it! The set-up, as far as action and string spacing, is close enough to my Hatfield that I don't have a problem going from one banjo to the other at all. The neck is a bit different, but plays very well and is very comfortable to me.

Did I mention I love this instrument? The tone is all it was advertised as: It is close enough to that cool pre-war arch top sound that I can't wait to compare it with a couple of them my friends have.

Many thanks to Warren and Ron for providing a high quality instrument like this with such an amazing sound.

I couldn't be happier with me purchase!
