Hi everyone!

I've been playing banjo for about a year and a half now, and absolutely LOVE it. I haven't been able to find a good teacher in my area (Whitewater, 1 hr. south of Madison and Milwaukee), and don't have a ton of time because I'm in college right now.

Do any of you have suggestions or know of anyone in the Walworth County (ish) area? I've done a lot of lessons from books and Tony Trischka's School of Banjo for 3 months, but would love to work towards the next level of play.

	mike gregory says: 3/7/2013 7:58:39 PM I'm almost in CENTRAL east, being 30 miles due North of Milwaukee. If you consider Walworth county near enough to South Milwaukee, I'd recommend Dan Nimphius. Jeff Kramer, maker of Cloverlick banjos, and a heck of a nice guy, is in Burlington. Dunno does he give lessons.

Do you do travel to banjo/bluegrass events in Wisconsin? Being new to this whole community, I'm not familiar with the "big deal" things or events that may not be as high of quality. Thanks!
	wizofos says: 3/8/2013 5:31:08 AM Not sure if they have lessons but check out Cafe Carpe in Ft. Atkinson about 7 miles north of Whitewater, they present a rather eclectic mix of music styles but do often have bluegrass and folk groups. They might be able to connect you to someone locally that has played there I would talk to someone in the University music department, there might be some students or possibly a professor who could help you. Contact Spruce Tree Music in Madison, they know most of the local acoustic players and teachers and might know someone who teaches in the Whitewater area. I know that there are some teachers in Madison. Mike is right, talk to Jeff Kramer and see if he knows anyone who can help.
