Dear Sirs, Rich Freeze here from Plymouth, WI. I'm a member of the Banjo Hangout Website where we have over 90.000 members. A lot of the members are looking into someone Who's making a Stand Up Performance Stand for Banjo players. Just similar to guitar Players that have a walk up stand to play their guitars. I heard you might be considering producing something that would work for Banjo Players. There is a nitch out there. my e-mail address is richardlfreezerfreeze@live.com Thank You for your Support.

Hi Rich,

Kevin Gracie here, yes, I am working on producing the stand my late father first produced 20 years ago, at the time he was producing them one at a time in his garage in California (where us, his children were born and grew up), I Kevin moved to Minnesota, my Father and Mothers home state in '72.

I assisted my father John Gracie introduce the Gracie Performer stands and Guitarak display stands at NAMM shows over the years and assisted as I could after he was hit by a car in 2001 while on his daily 15-30 mile bicycle ride at age 70.

Dad insisted he try to continue running Gracie Stands himself until his passing in 2010 at age 88.

I Kevin Gracie, youngest son spent my professional career in health care as a Certified Surgical First Assistant, on staff at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis for 36 years, after eight spine surgeries fusing seven levels of my spine and spending four years relocating all of my fathers product supplies to Minnesota and researching  through his files I have been bringing Gracie Stands back.

I have been working with the wonderful guidance of Anton Ullrich at Anton@BanjerProductions.com as he owns three of my fathers Banjo stands and I sent him a prototype for a new Gracie Performer Banjo stand to test Tony has been wonderful at providing feedback.
I would appreciate any input from you and the Banjo Hangout website for assistance, my biggest concern is how many Banjo players need the stand for open back VS closed back banjo?, the stand I had prototyped is an attempt to hold both open and closed back banjos.

I hope to have a banjo performer stand available the first quarter of this year.

Thank you for your interest and again please let me know what the percentage of banjo players request open VS closed back banjo stands?
Any Suggestions for the Banjo Stand I'll pass along to Kevin.
Kevin Gracie, Owner, Gracie Stands, LLC

Rich: This might be worthy of a Hangout topic, so that people can chime in? I suspect that bluegrass banjo players (resonator banjos) would want the stand more, because of the tradition that performers play while standing. This is much less of an issue for old-time.

Coming in very late: COVID-19 days have given me lots of time to practice and that banjo gets heavier every day. After trying several ideas that just didn't work I finally sucked it up and ordered a K&M acoustic guitar performer walk-up stand. Crazy expensive but it does hold the banjo and takes all the weight completely off. Sorry I lost so many years without it. I messaged Gracie before buying this one but got no response.

I posted a photo yesterday. (The comments are entertaining. Some people lost their minds and started yelling at me about physics in capital letters despite the photo showing the thing working just fine.) Solved the problem, makes me happy, and increased my practice time.

@orchardcity Our music stores are still closed here so I ordered it from Sweetwater. "K&M Performer Walk Up Guitar Stand - Acoustic". (Note that there is also an electric model with body brackets that don't open as wide.)
