I had a troubador back in the early 80's when I was learning to play. couldn't get the hang of clawhammer, tried 2 finger, went to 3 fingers, so swapped my Troubador at Elderly Instruments. I lined up a dozen banjos of all makes, and the best sound to my ear was a walnut Wildwood Paragon, which I swapped my Troubador and 4 additional instruments to get. I continue to play my Paragon, bluegrass style, but have revisited clawhammer, found I can do it just fine, and play melodic style. recently I got a used blonde maple tubaphone Troubador which sounds wonderful. So I am a 2 Wildwood player. I cannot understand why these fine sounding , beautiful banjos are not more mainstream popular. Great to find a like minded group!
