Leonard Glenn Dulcimer - 1975 - not Glenn after all

From Ukeman on 9/25/2016 3:10:10 AM

I've recently acquired a dated  mountain dulcimer - hourglass shaped - nice carved fiddle head.  Signed inside right heart sound hole and dated 1975 in red ink pen or pencil directly on the wood. I've been unsuccessful in getting a picture of the signature and it can not all be seen in one "peek."  Although Roddy Moore, director of the Blue Ridge Institute in Ferrum, VA, visually identified it as a L Glenn it is actually a (need to check my notes)

I don't see a way to post a picture here, but will post some to my hangout page.

Very nice! This instrument is unlike any marked Glenn instrument I have seen. Can you tell me specifically what the lettering says?

I just posted pics on my pictures page on the Hangout. The inside was covered in dust. Handwritten is "Leonard" and then I haven't been able to get the dust off the next part. Very clearly written is "1975." I am relying on Roddy's expertise for identification. I had a couple of people look at it at the Mt. Airy Fiddler's Convention a couple weeks ago and they seem to agree with it's pedigree.

I'd love to see what is written inside when you get it cleaned up. Nice dulcimer.

If I can somehow get a picture of what's in there! Notice you're "Slingerland". I've had a couple nice Slingerland guitars over the past couple of years, a small Maybell flat top, and a Nite Hawk archtop. Handle Slingerland banjo ukes often, sold a nice one at Mt. Airy a couple weeks ago.

I did a search for Leonard Glenn dulcimers and see what you mean about it not looking like others. Will let you know what I can find out.

Forgot about this thread. It's Leonard Underwood. Might be Arkansas.
