I currently own two of the newer Goldstars but I've always wanted one of the old ones. I have on loan a 84 or 85 GF-85. It was originally purchased in Hanover Pa from the same store that Tom Adams bought his. It has a Gibson tone ring that was installed by Chris Warner. That is about all the history I know. I played it on stage last night and it seems to have great tone and volume and the price is right.
So I guess my question is, what do you guys think about the this year GF-85 and how much better would a GF-100 be? Is there much difference in sound? Why would someone install a Gibson tone ring?
