I just purchased a 1980 GF-100HF banjo and I was wondering if any of you have an opinion for a good bridge upgrade, I think the bridge on the banjo is the original one. It sounds good but I wouldn't mind hearing the difference between the original and a possible upgrade. Would appreciate hearing of your experiences changing bridges. Thanks!!

	PickaFive says: 4/16/2014 6:53:26 PM The acoustic properties of each specific well- made bridge affects its capability to produce the sound you want far more than the brand name. Try as many as you can and hope that you find "the one" with a nominal effort. My 1981 G20-JD banjo has a Purcell ebony over old piano wood, and the 1981 GF-100W has a Wadsworth ebony over old piano wood. I plan no further changes on these instruments. There are many makers of very high quality bridges available today. Changes in head tension, combined with bridge design, and its component materials and mass strongly affect the sound your banjo produces.
