a good friend of mine just picked up a jd crowe goldstar let me tell you this banjo is beautiful and cranks tone all over the fretboard these are rare birds and bring top dollar but they only made 80 so there are slim picking any body have a jd crowe model?

	bbanjoboy says: 10/11/2012 8:36:17 AM Hey.. They actually made quite a few more than 80, but they only made 80 of the first batch in 1981. I own one of these --number 75, and it's a HOSS. After 81, they made them for a few more years, but changed them to a two piece resonator veneer and a somewhat cheezy sunburst finish. The 81's were a tobacco color with the exception of at least one of the VERY early ones I saw that actually has a burgundy color stain. I offered mine for sale on the hangout here a month or so ago as well as at my booth at IBMA this month. I pirced it at $4500. No takers, but I'm not taking a PENNY less.. it's just tooo good.. plus, where could I get anything else this good for that kind of money? it's basically a prewar granada wrapped in Japanese clothing.. heck, even the wood was cut at the same sawmill that the prewar GIbsons were... ~ GOtta love that!

	Russell Carson says: 3/10/2013 8:47:38 PM I have banjo # 5 from the first batch of 80. I sold a Huber VRB 75 for it and have never looked back. It's the best banjo I have ever played or owned. Love my Crowe!
