hello fellow Goldstar enthusiasts.

Ive owned 3 Goldstars in my time. A 1984 ish GF 100 Wreath, A 1981 JD Crowe, and currently a 1978 G11 archtop.

I really like the feel and playability of the G11.

It sounded great from the start however it was a little weak up the neck.

I tyried a bunch of differant block rims I built and settled on a Cherry rim that satisfies my ears.

I have a Maple rim that I 'm itching to try out when the mood hits me.

As much as I like the G11, the real cannon was the GF 100 wreath I owned previously

That one was sold to aquire the JD model..

The Japanese GS 's are great banjo's and will stand up to any others.

I have been going to a Jam in my area and people keep asking me what kind of Gibson I had because it resonates so bright and rich. I tell them it's a Goldstar because my capo and tuner are usually covering the lettering and then they ask me what kind of banjo that is?!
