Hi everybody. I am new to the Vega group but not to Vega banjos. About 40 yrs ago my mothers best friend said she had an old banjo in her closet that she would be willing to sale so that she could buy her husband a chainsaw! It turned out to be a 1908 fairbanks whyte layde 5 string in wonderful condition. I have added a tubaphone No.3 plectrum of unknown age. Hope to be an active member of the Vega fan club

----------------- says: 6/5/2015 9:56:19 PM I'm new to the VEGA group too. The first banjo I ever saw up close was my banjo instructor's VEGA whyte Laydie No. 7. It was 1968. I was 11 years old and instantly smitten. So far, I have a 1924 VEGA style-M for which I built a 5 string neck. I still intend to someday find a nice Whyte Laydie No. 7 five string. I'm only 58, so I still have some time. Knock on wood.
