I just found this group, and I see that it mostly deals with the vintage Vegas. I have a Vega N openback 5-string conversion done by Carl Arcand of Second Life Banjo in Canada. He made a great neck, and he's one of the best when it comes to making great necks. He's also really fine at everything else. Anyway, almost everything else is original. It sounds great, and it really plays great. I have two other vintage banjos (1921 Gibson and 1885ish Buckbee). I like the vintage look and sound. The Vega has the best OT tone of the three, but I really like the others as well. I don't know why anyone would buy a new Vega when there are so many Vegas available that are the "real deal."
