Now I need a case for the banjo's new configuration. Anyone have suggestions for what kind of modern case might work for a Vega 5-string with close fit resonator? The resonator is the middle stage style of Vega resonators (ie. not flush fit but no flanges) & came off of a tubaphone plectrum of the same vintage as this banjo. It is not as wide as a regular resonator but might be a bit tall in profile to fit into a regular 12 inch openback case.
The banjo came to me with a period case but it's extremely tight & never really fit around the 5th string anyway (case may have been for a plectrum banjo), My back of the resonator is 12 3/8 wide overall. The other issue is that it's a bit taller in profile than a regular 12 inch openback...the lid on my husband's 12 inch openback case feels a bit tight.
Thanks for any suggestions. G
