Vega Tail Piece

From beachboy on 11/10/2011 6:35:06 PM

to the group: I have a 1928 Vega Little Wonder, it came with a no knot tail piece, I just started playing, it seems ok to me. Does anyone know what style tail piece originally came on this banjo. thanks

Bill

According to my Vega catalog reprint, the Little Wonder, as was the case with most of their models pictured in the catalog, came with the No Knot.

No prices in the catalog reprint, but my 1923 Vega Regent 5 string, similar to the Wonder, sold to the original owner for around $60.

My 1921 Regent came with a Cammed no knot tailpiece. 90 years old and still singing.
Play on,
Jack

A friend has a Vega Catalog for sale on eBay and I went to read it yesterday. There was no date on it, but it must have been before 1927, as it showed the Style K 4-string banjo as a mandolin banjo. Later the 13" scale 4-string was called "Melody" banjo by Vega; I just purchased one, a Little Wonder (1927).
