Dont go to the "Ye olde black cross" Bromsgrove

From conic on 8/10/2016 4:31:00 PM

This was a fantastic venue and has had a bluegrass pickin session twice a month for at least 5 years, now there is a new landlady and without warning or introducing herself she stormed over tonight and was very abusive insulting  and swearing at us stating she hates bluegrass and for us all to get out of her pub immediately.

There are several elderly pickers attend and were a but shaken by it all and left leaving their drinks behind. I demanded my money back and refused to leave , she said she called the police but I would not leave and they never turned up anyway.

She got some of her heavies from behind the bar and who tried to steal our drinks we had paid for but we stood our ground and they went back behind the bar with their tail between their legs.

We said the beer was like vinegar anyway and she responded that the bluegrass turned it to vinegar.

We left later and gave her a great review on their facebook page.

This was a fantastic friendly pub , the best bluegrass venue in the Midlands regularly attended by about 20 pickers twice a month buying lots of beer  but has gone sour overnight so we are on the lookout for another venue.

You have been warned: do not go here or you may get your nose punched by the staff and abused by the new landlady and the police will be nowhere to be seen.

Conic, its a pity you don't live closer to the Rainford Junction. The Landlord, Paul, welcomes bluegrass every Wednesday. He reserves a couple of tables for the beginners banjo pickers at which starts at 7pm. Even when the place is busy! Then when the propper jammers start at 9pm he usually brings in a tray of sandwiches. There is a selection of instruments around the wall to pick up and use. Big shout for the 'Junction'.

Rainford Junction looks a great music pub in a welcoming part of the country, you can even view inside it on google street view your so lucky. I may pop over one night and meet you all for a jam.

Derek is right, everyone is welcome on a Wednesday night whatever your level is, and you'll never get a better welcoming landlord than Paul who is a musician himself, last week we were given curry and chips all free.

Yep Junction is a good Pub. Only been once, turned out to be a bit far, wish it was a bit closer.

Eddie, perhaps one night you could come with your caravan and park it around the back it would be good to have you with us again. The Junction has changed a great deal since your last visit.

Thats a good Idea, is there room for a caravan and is the gaffa ok with it, I am on the lookout for a small eriba so could come over one night

Banjowen says:

There's room for loads of caravans as the landlord owns the field that backs on to the carpark, only last week there was a family from Holland in a fairly large campervan camped on the carpark. Paul the landlord is one of the nicest blokes you'll ever meet and you'd have no problem,...ask derekoftheold97, the only problem that I could see is the width of your caravan as the entrance could be a little tight for a wide caravan, again derekoftheold97 would have more idea than me as he owns a caravan and I don't.

Forgot to mention, there's a campsite just a few yards from The Junction,.....see the Junctions website for details.
