Hello all at UK5,
My name is Brian. I have lived in Glasgow for 6 years now since retiring in 2009.
I was first introduced to Banjo in 1976 whilst living in North Carolina. Back then I only needed to know 3 chords for the music I was being taught. How times have changed, with popularity of 5 string banjo. Due to career and lifestyle I neglected to advance my musical knowledge for some time, using only my limited skill for party pieces, social events etc.
Interest by my Son and later Grandaughter, rekindled my own interest to advance my skills. Whilst their interest is more Avett Brothers, Trampled by Turtles and Mumford and Sons, rather than Scruggs, Kruger Brothers and Fleck. I am thankful these bands are bringing new young interest to playing banjo. If honest I quite like some of it myself.
I'm lucky enough to be able to practice on a pre-owned Deering John Hartford. The lad bought himself a brand new Eagle II last year and we started the Grandaughter (11) on a Goodtime Parlour (19 fret) last year also.
Looking forward to hearing your efforts, blagging your ideas and tips and hopefully improving my own skills on this site.
