Hi UK banjo hangout members, I’m a newbie to the group so just posting a quick hello.

I started to learn banjo this year and love it, although there is never enough time to practice properly with the demands of work. I have been learning 3 finger style, but I am now interested in learning clawhammer style.

I currently want to buy another banjo; today I tried out some open back banjos at a local shop (Vega OTW, Vega Senator & OME Jubilee). OME sounded the best to me for clawhammer - it had a 12 inch pot with scoop, but no tone ring.

Apparently both Prucha and OME have had manufacturing issues this year which is making it more difficult to source here in the UK. The shop is more than happy to order anything direct from these manufacturers, but lead time are likely to be long and I would be unable to hear then before hand. Came back empty handed ☹ I will continue to research over the Christmas break.

	Banjowen says: 12/22/2014 6:25:16 AM Welcome Peter, I'd advise you to take your time in your search for another banjo,it's all very fine buying from a dealer in the UK but I've always found you're limited with the different makes of banjos over here.Good luck with your research anyway.
	alanjg1 says: 12/22/2014 6:40:09 AM Prucha had a problem with his supply of one piece flanges. I understand that this issue was now resolved. Have a look at the Prucha website. There are sound files on there of most of his banjos. Also fantastic pictures of his instruments. You can order direct quite easily and Jarda is a great bloke to deal with.
