I have my first ever gigs coming up. So, of course, my 5th string gearing has come adrift from the neck of my banjo today. My first gig is this Thursday.

If you have any idea of the best way of putting this right, and quickly, I would dearly like to hear from you.

	tilmar says: 6/10/2014 9:19:55 AM i put some gorilla glue in hole on neck on my spare cheap banjo loose friction peg. caution....it grows like expanding foam but works a treat took over a day to set. think you can get it from any hardware store about five quid. took a scalpel to excess but has stained it a bit...i should have stuck some tape around it first.

When this happened to me on my first jo, I replaced the 5th string peg with a geared tuner and reamed out the hole to fit the new peg. I then used a little wood glue to hold it and it is still working fine Ian

	alfiedog says: 6/10/2014 2:29:16 PM For a Temp fix glue it back in. If it was mine i would fix a Dowel in the Tuner hole, then drill,and re fit the Tuner. I have used this technique with Lag Bolt's on several Banjo's, and it work's a treat.
	Dibbo says: 6/11/2014 8:57:21 AM Hello, Thanks for all the suggestions. As advised, I glued it back in last night. I also tapped it lightly into place. Probably will be a temporary fix, but as long as it doesn't fall out while I'm playing in public, then that's OK with me. The dowel idea sounds like a good one, thanks.
