Hello UK banjo peeps!

I am flying to Shetland for a family hol in the summer (last 2 weeks of July) and dare not trust a banjo to baggage handling, but I know I will go MAD without a banjo to hand. Anyone have any contacts up there to see if a sympathetic banjoist would loan me something? Or any ideas about how I could track something down?

	daveteague says: 5/20/2014 4:57:11 AM Baggage handling is not as bad as everyone thinks. In the last couple of years I've flown to Ireland twice and France twice with friends. We've had banjos, guitars etc and flown by different airlines. Not a problem. Most airlines now have a carry on policy and allow you to put it in the overhead locker (except my least favourite - Ryanair) otherwise you take it to the "oversize luggage gate" and it gets put on by hand, not on the dreadful conveyor belt

	daveteague says: 5/20/2014 6:13:20 AM I understand. They have a disgraceful policy with regards to musical instruments. I had to pay for an extra seat both ways for my banjo, including a booking fee! As Their booking info said it was too big to go overhead. When I got on board the senior cabin person insisted I put it up in the overhead locker due to health and safety reasons! I have never flown Ryanair since. I went Aer Lingus last month, even tho' it was a bit dearer.
