I joined BH back in January but have never posted anything before. (Update) I live in Rainham, Essex, UK. Simesa who is also on here is always getting at me to embrace this social media thing so here I am. I'm a complete novice and have come to banjoing quite late in life (58). I have been practicing (not playing) since the end of last year on a Hondu II 5 string resonator. It was a gift from a relative who has had it sitting in a cupboard for many years. I'm not sure of it's age but think it is prob mid 70's. It would be really nice to hear from anybody local to me and I'm quite keen to find a club or something nearby to listen to other players close up. Learning out of books is tough but I've found the Dummies guide quite helpful. leaning towards picking and melodic as I don't understand clawhammer!!

There is a woman on this site called Casey Henry who does DVD's from the US, teaching you the Murphy method (you learn to play by ear). She can post lessons or use drop box to send stuff. Very helpful recommend her very highly. Also there is a tutor in Chelmsford called Phil Morley. Can give you his details, he teaches using tab. Hope this helps. Happy pickin'
